Options

The level of funding you receive depends on your job site's HPSA score and whether you choose to work full-time or half-time. After completing your initial two year service commitment, you can apply to continue service for additional loan repayment. With continued service, it's possible to pay off all your student loans.

See Loan Repayment Program At-A-Glance (PDF - 891 KB) and Programs for Nurses: Compare (PDF - 420 KB) for more information.

Full Time

  • For $50,000 in loan repayment (or the full outstanding balance of your eligible loans if less than $50,000) you must be employed full-time at an NHSC-approved site with an NHSC Jobs Center HPSA score of 14 or higher.
  • For $30,000 in loan repayment (or the full outstanding balance of your eligible loans if less than $30,000), you must be employed full-time at an NHSC-approved site with an NHSC Jobs Center HPSA score of 13 or lower.

Priority consideration is given to eligible applicants whose NHSC-approved site has a HPSA score of 26 to 14, in descending order. Eligible applicants may receive up to $50,000 in loan repayment for an initial service commitment until funding is exhausted.
