NHSC STATE-BY-STATE GUIDE TO PRIMARY CARE OPPORTUNITIES

MICHIGAN

Michigan has access to four of the Great Lakes, providing a wealth of transportation channels, natural attractions, and shorelines that feature striking lighthouses. Michigan’s largest city, Detroit, is known as the “Motor City” for its vast production and love of American automobiles. The city also has strong musical traditions in jazz and the blues. In contrast to the busy city of Detroit, half of Michigan is covered in forests that house abundant species of wildlife.
