NHSC STATE-BY-STATE GUIDE TO PRIMARY CARE OPPORTUNITIES

IOWA

This Midwestern state, sandwiched between the Mississippi and Missouri rivers, is mostly farmland. Iowa is a top producer of corn; is a national leader in renewable energy generation; and is able to turn out large amounts of ethanol, biodiesel, and wind power. Iowa’s capital city, Des Moines, takes pride in its city atmosphere that nonetheless has a quaint, small-town ambiance, thus offering residents the “best of both worlds.”
